Fire Extinguisher Testing

Fire Extinguisher Testing must be done every six-months by a fire safety professional, as to check they will function when needed. Australian Standard AS1851 sets out the rules and regulations that ensure building owners are compliant in meeting national safety standards and Australian law.

Buildings should have an adequate number of fire extinguishers, and reliable escape routes should certain exits get blocked.  Fire Extinguishers should be place properly in a visible, highly accessible location that has no obstructions.  Buildings should have signage showing where the extinguishers are along with other useful fire prevention information.  There is also other fire protection equipment to be considered, such as hose reels, smoke alarms, gas vents, sprinklers, monitoring systems, etc..
